Shimon says: Behold! the [scripture] says: “After a year the king sent Nebuchadnezzar in and had him brought to Babylon in with the precious vessels of the house YHWH's”. [What are these] “precious vessels of YHWH's house”? This is the ark. R. Yehuda ben Lakish says: The ark was hidden in its place because it says: “And the poles were so long that the tips could only be seen in the sanctuary in front of the interior, but they were not visible to the outside. And they have remained there to this day."
